Apple Fonts Through the Years (1 Of 3)

Apple has had a wide variety of fonts over the past thirty years. and many of them can be found today (on the Internet via RapidShare) so lets take a look at some System fonts, as well as company logos

This is Apple's Current Font Myriad. it has been used since 2003 on the MacBook, the iMac, the PowerMac G5, The MacPro, the PowerBook, the iPod, and the iPhone.

This font is called Motter Tektura. it was used when Apple was started in 1977. It was on the Apple II, Lisa, Apple III, Disk II, Macintosh. The apple logo () to this day still has a bite mark that fits perfectly with the "a" from this typeface. This was discontinued in 1984.

This is Apple Garmond Which is probally the most famous Apple Font to this day. Started with the Macintosh in 1984 and ended with Mac OS 10.2, the iPod and the iBook in 2003. Also, it has been the standard font for "Think Different" Ad campaign.

OS X Tip: Define without dictionary

Once-in-a-while, we'll stumble upon a word we have never heard of before so what is the first thing to do? go to the Dictionary of course! In Mac OS X, there are three ways to define a word: 1 Spotlight it, 2 Go to the app, and finally for On-The-Go Defining, you can use Control+Command()+D When you do this over any text, this window appears:

New MacBooks Rumor Confirmed!

Apple, plans to ship out their new MacBooks on october 14th 2008. Right now on the Apple (Online) Store, you can still purchase the MacBook, MacBook Pro, and MacBook Air. What will the new MacBooks look like? Right now, all of Apple's products are this very High-Quality Aluminum (the iPods, iMacs, iPhones (the 2G/EDGE) MacBooks, MacPros, Mac Minis). the only Mac that isn't Al, is the MacBook. Instead, its a polycarbonate plastic. I'm guessing the MacBook will definitely be made of Al, and their going to use a better, cost-saving (both Apple and Consumer) method called BRICK. What BRICK does is amazing. almost little to no screws can be seen, the computer is placed on only 1-2 sheets, and its more durable that the old process. By now, the MBP will have about 4GHz, the MB will be about 3GHz, and the MacAir will be at 2GHz.

iPhone Developers Rejoice! the NDA has be lifted!

Yes its true! Apple, Inc. had decided to lift its Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA). What does this mean? From what I know, the NDA was put in place to keep Apple's innovations safe from copyright like Maps, Mail, and so on. on Apple's Developer website, they released this statement,

" We have decided to drop the non-disclosure agreement (NDA) for released iPhone software.

We put the NDA in place because the iPhone OS includes many Apple inventions and innovations that we would like to protect, so that others don’t steal our work. It has happened before. While we have filed for hundreds of patents on iPhone technology, the NDA added yet another level of protection. We put it in place as one more way to help protect the iPhone from being ripped off by others.

However, the NDA has created too much of a burden on developers, authors and others interested in helping further the iPhone’s success, so we are dropping it for released software. Developers will receive a new agreement without an NDA covering released software within a week or so. Please note that unreleased software and features will remain under NDA until they are released.

Thanks to everyone who provided us constructive feedback on this matter."

Developers can now Create apps like gMail, Podcaster, and many more to come!
also the App store had made a milestone when Apple Made it over 1000 games! this is proving to be a very successful for Apple and with the NDA being lifted, there will soon be more revolutionary apps in the store!

5 Things Apple Should Make

As the title says, here are 5 Things Apple Should make for MacWorld and WWDC 2009:

5 iLife & iWork X:
With 2009 coming, Apple will plan to Release iLife & iWork X (Ten). what they should have IMO, is
Push Documents for MobileMe Members. This feature would be like this: suppose you left the Presentation at your office, and your Wi-Fi was down, or your not connected to the Internet, with this "Push" service, you can fix the edits and then once you get to Wi-Fi, It will Push the new Keynote to your other Mac. Another thing Apple should put is for iDVD to be Blu-Ray Compatible, HD-DVD, and have DVD publishing go 2X faster than '08. For iPhoto, I'd like to see QuickTime Movies in iPhoto rather than QuickTime Player. Finally, iWeb should have better Graphics.

4: Mac OS 10.6 Snow Leopard
Apple should make Boot Camp work with Linux OS and Mac OS Classic. Linux would be great b/c OS X is UNIX Based and so is Linux. this would be great to have so that people can use OS X and Ubuntu or the many other editions of Linux out there. Themes would be very cool to have in OS X. the Aqua blue/graphite is ok, but I would like to see a change of Theme once in a while, and hacking is the only way to do that. Front Row should once again be more tv like in a way as the OS, you should rent movies with front row, or buy TV episodes to, and Front Row (even iTunes) should connect with an tv (to share music and movies).

3 Apple Bluetooth™ Dock
Bluetooth Rocks no doubt! Every Mac has bluetooth built in so why not the iPod Dock? Think about it, with Bluetooth, you can have your iPod in another room, and wirelessly Sync with that iPod/iPhone. The Dock should also have a HDMI port in the Line out side, a sleeker appearance, and overall should be Black or White.

2 iPhone OS 2.2
This upgrade should be great. the iPhone/iPod Touch should have Shake to Shuffle, Nike+iPod, Themes, and a new home screen, and Keynote Clicker. The Home screen should have these featrues, one: Landscape mode, two: turn off Wi-Fi by tapping the icon, three: Bring back the reflective dock! Nike+iPod should be comatable with the iPod touch 1G to.

And #1: The iPix Apple's Innovative Camera
Apple Should Re-invent the Camera with iPix. about the Size of the iPhone, the iPix has a multi touch screen, iMovie, and iPhoto built-in, plus with the Wi-Fi, you can do so many other things like YouTube, Geo-Tagging, MobileMe Photo Gallery, and so many more! It should have the same 30 Pin Dock connector like all the iPods, headphone port, and a Home screen. the iPix
should come in 2 Models a 4GB and 15 Megapixles for $299, and a 8GB Model with 20 Mega Pixels for $399

What is the "Shadow" Button you ask? Whenever you have a Dialog box, you see two kinds of buttons, the "Empty" ones (not blue), the "Full" ones, and on either one of those buttons, there is a "shadow" outlining the button. To Mac users, it has been a mystery, until they figured this out:

The Shadow Button is used as an alternative to pressing enter. Press the Spacebar, and that command in the Shadowed one will be activated. Press Tab to Move the Shadow around to another button (same as using Login Window).

The iPod Nano Came out in 2005. Since then, it has been the most popular portable music player in the world. The 3rd generation design was a radically new one, a more square shaped Nano rather that a rectangle shape. This year, Apple's new iPod Nano 4G goes back to the classic rectangle shape with some radically new features. insted of the top and bottom being rectangular, the new Nano is now an oval, and is thinner than the iPod Nano 3G! the nano has a built-in accelerometer so tilting the thing to the left or right will enable the user to go into cover-flow. now the coolest part of the iPod Nano is the all new Shake-to-Shuffle! this feature is the best part of the Nano. All you while a song is playing is shake the Nano and Boom! new song! That is a look at the Nano 4G now the new iPod Classic 7G. the 7th generation iPod has a 120 GB Hard drive and comes in black and white. The new iPod 7G is as thick as a 30 GB iPod 5G. Finally, the iPod Touch 2G, its brand new has so many new features. It comes with iPod+Nike support built in (both the software and the Receiver), built-in speaker (not the cheap "blippy" one on the iPod Touch 1G), and features a new ergonomic design. Apple now is pushing the iPod touch to go to competition with Sony's PSP, and the Nintendo DS. Like I said before with the 2.0 software, games are going to be the "Big Thing". Right now there about 3,000 apps for the iPhone, and of the 3,000, 762 of them are Games so that is about 25% of the App Store Library. In my opinion Apple has created another Apple ][ Phenomenon (that means that a Product created by Apple has thousands even Millions of developers working on that Platform). So Apple has done it again making their Apple Newton Message Pad finally have a position in the Market.

well another Apple event has come and went! The Let's Rock event came and refreshed products for the 2008 Holiday season. so let's get started! First the keynote started out with Steve joking about his death saying that, "it was Greatly exaggerated". but any ways, The first thing he introduced was iTunes 8. With iTunes 8, iTunes shares an iPhoto kind of look. For Example, if you go to albums, you are able to skim all of your music. This feature works with Movies, Podcasts and TV Shows. Speaking of TV Shows, NBC has Finally come back to iTunes! After about 11 Months sense NBC Went off iTunes, they have finally come back bringing TV Shows like The Office, Heros, 30 Rock, and many more. if only Seinfeld was back on, it would be great. they also added a new feature called Gienus. this feature helps you create smart playlists you can take anywhere. Finally, you can watch HD or SD programs on your Mac, PC or Apple TV. that is a Quick Look at iTunes Stay Put for Part 2.

yep! with the intro of the 3G, lots of People began to activate, Sync, Reregister, and for 2G and iPod Touch Users, it was the seventh level of Hell! in fact, the iTunes Server is Jammed! for most of us today who tried to update our iPhone/iPod Touch, we were stuck with a box that said it wasn't there or just brought up iTunes! Apple predicts that within 24-48 hours, it will try to restore the server and get the 2.0 software. but in the meantime, the App store is working fine and so is MobileMe. so stay tuned for any breaking info.

well @ 8:00 AM on Friday, Apple Stores will open their doors to customers to 70 countries for the all new iPhone 3G! and of course the iPhone OS 2.0. its a free upgrade for iPhone Users and USD $9.95 for all iPod Touch users. their are 500 launch applications, 125 of them are Free! so i have browsed the app store today (with the launch of iTunes 7.7) and found 5 Great apps for the Launch date.

1 AIM (USD $FREE) this is for using AIM on-the-go and is better than SMS because you have unlimited amount of messages

2 Facebook (USD$ FREE) we all know that facebook has a web app, but now its a new app from the iTunes App store. the app has all the features of regular facebook, but a cleaner interface.

3 Remote (USE$FREE) this handy app from Apple, lets you control your Mac, Apple TV, AirTunes Speakers, and Front Row to play the music on Your iPod or iPhone (now if Apple can only make a Bluetooth™ Dock )

This week is Green Week. And tomorrow is Earth Day! So how can you and your Mac Stay Green?

Well, here are a few tips:

1 save energy with your mac:

To do this go to System Preferences>Energy Saver. From there you can change when you want your computer to sleep and when you want it to shut down/start up.

2: Recycle! Have an Old PC? Well, take it to your local recycling center or send it to Apple!

3 don't use CRT, use LCD! LCD Uses less energy than CRT And some can be as low as $17.00

4 use CFL Lightbulb instead of Normal bulbs, they burn brighter and last longer

on all Macs , we have the Volume up and Down Key. but it only goes one increment. to do this ,press Opt+Shift its goes in 1/4. so that is a Quick Tip. if you have any, send me a message.

NBC Back On iTunes?

the news is true! NBC has just announced that you can download hit TV shows from their site. shows like 30 Rock, The Office, And the Toinght Show With Jay Leno to name a few are aviable for download. but there is one catch. it is right now only available for Windows users. but within the end of 2008 or around mid-summer, the downloads will be available for Mac OS X and Linux. as of now, it is only Windows Media Player 11 Supported.
